I always get asked why I called my business Kyle Lane, So I decided to do a little blog post as to why I called my upcycled furniture shop Kyle Lane!

I thought for years about what I would call my own business if I had one, all kinds of names went through my head and none ever stuck. When I took the leap from leaving the teaching profession and concentrate on building my own business, the name was one of the last things to finalise and I couldn’t make up my mind. I wanted it to mean something to me.  To make it personal to me and keep my passion and focus alive! I went through so many options and none were hitting home……..

I tried to actually stop thinking about it in the hopes that something would just hit me when I least expected it and that’s what it surely did.

It just came to me out of nowhere and my mind was totally made up!

My grandfather King William Cleere, King being his nickname. He lived at the end of a laneway. When we were younger we loved heading out to visit most Sundays and he always would walk down the lane to the gate and waved the whole way before we drove away. The laneway didn’t have a name. So he called it Kyle Lane. I’m not sure why but he did but he would always sign his all his cards to ‘From all at KyleLane’. So Kyle Lane always meant a lot to me. Even though King Cleere is no longer with us, Kyle Lane has taken on a whole new meaning but its roots are deep in my heart.

Here is an oil portrait painting, I painted of him while I was in Art College.
