Transformation Tuesday Retro Pantry Press
Back with Transformation Tuesday. The minute I saw this press I knew exactly what I was going to do with it. I felt like I had hit the jackpot!!! These presses are so hard to come by and I have being keeping an eye out for years. It instantly reminds me of my grandmother , she was always perched beside this style of press. I wanted to give it a proper retro vibe.
It has been a major labour of love but I think it was worth it. The handles are attached by screws which, were a nightmare to remove as they had rusted. It really needed a proper elbow grease scrub and I removed the hinges and sprayed them, it may have been a lot more effort than popping on new ones , but I really wanted to keep the originals. I kept all the original handles as well and sprayed them while to tie in with the outside colour.
I chose an overall white colour to really show off the pops of colour on the doors.
This will transport you back in time. Im afraid it may be one of those pieces you sell and regret it forever more……… But at the moment it is for sale in the shop for €220. I will in the mean time be on the hunt for a spot in my own house, so you may need to fight me for it. The fabulous brown soda bread came from our lovely neighbours The Town Deli, here in Clonmel!
Again I think it goes to show how paint can transform anything really.
